Question about port mirroring settings

Postby oliver » Tue Jun 21, 2011 2:33 am

Allthough it seemed to me that WMfilter was running fine, I now have the same problems.

The software claims that it can not monitor any pc, allthough it "sees" all connected pc's in the network.

I tried several different methods of connecting the pc and managed switch to the network but the software just will not (can not) perform its tasks.

When I do the check it says :

Monitoring adapter OK

Blocking adapter can not gate gateway ip adress ( this is fine because I don't want to block anything just now)

Monitoring mode OK

Ip Segments OK

Local servers OK

Monitoring of others: can not monitor other computers.

I wonder if this problem is caused by the managed switch I use, so I was wondering if I could solve this problem by using another switch. I found NETGEAR's 8-PORT GIGAbit GS108T-200GES at a reasonable price, but could you tell me if this switch is supported by the software?

Question about port mirroring settings

Postby gengw2000 » Tue Jun 21, 2011 3:04 am

Since WFilter was running fine, it should because:

1). Cable connection was modified by someone else. For example, WFilter cable was moved from the mirroring port to another port.

2). Port mirroring settings were changed. Could it be possible that someone else changed the settings?

3). Does the router has another cable connected to somewhere else besides the cable connected to the mirrored port?

I don't think it is necessary to use another switch, since this switch was working.
