Because it is difficult to determine whether the user is actually reading the page, we calculate the Internet Browsing Time by using a special algorithm. We use the "Read Time Threshold" as the basis for measuring browse time. The Read Time Threshold is 3 minutes by default.
For example, an employee goes to www.cnn.com. If a request is made to www.google.com 2 minutes after the initial request to www.cnn.com, 2 minutes of browse time are assigned to cnn.com. A subsequent request to www.msn.com 4 minutes later will assign 3 minutes to google.com and begin a new session for msn.com.

adobe etc these all add time to the browsing time.
Is there a way to exclude some sites?

You can add these websites to the "website exception list" in certain recording levels to except them from being calculated. Please check the attached screenshot.
