How to monitor proxy server internet activity on network?

Hi,

We have been testing WFilter and so far it applies to almost all

our needs, only so far we can only do the monitoring based on IP

addresses and this in some cases we find it somewhat tedious because on

those occasions where a user use the proxy server to gain access to the

Internet is the IP address of Proxy which logs.

Given that the monitoring based on IP addresses are not feasible for our

case we decided to synchronize the application with Active Directory but

I get an error message saying my account does not belong to the group

"Domain Admin", however I I joined the group "Domain Admin" and also

tested with scores of my colleagues who are also members of this group.

If you have any suggestion about it would appreciate, because we depend

on the results generated by the reports of this application to make the

formal purchase thereof and for this we need the integration of Active

Directory users.

If you are using WFilter version earlier than "en.3.3.161", this problem can happen because previous versions is case sensitive.

Can you check your WFilter version, which can be found in "Help"->"About" of WFilter?

However, I am afraid even enabling "account monitoring" can not solve the proxy problem, because computers behind a proxy server share the proxy server ip address.

The solution is to install WFilter directly on the proxy server. And add the proxy server ip address to "Local Servers" of "System Settings"->"Monitor Settings". By doing this, WFilter will be able to monitor individual computers using this proxy server.

Sorry to dig up an old and slightly unrelated thread, but I too get the error "This user shall belong to the "Domain Admin" group".

Product: WFilter

Build No.: en.3.3.201

Register key: Trial Version

License Number: 8

It's a north american AD but mixed mode 2k3 (2000 and 2k3 DC's).

Thoughts?

You need to input a admin user which belongs to the "Domain Admin" group.

Please check whether you have the "Domain Admin" group in your Active Directory, and does the configured user belongs to this group?

And is your domain controller server in English language?

My user is a member of "domain admins" plural. I also created "domain admin" just to check, but that didn't work either.

It's English active directory.

"Domain Admins" group, not "domain admin". Please check the attached screenshot.

Anyway, I will send you a small application file to check this issue in tomorrow.

Please use the attached "test.exe" to test this issue.

Steps:

1. Download the "test.zip" file, uncompress it and click "test.exe" to launch it.

2. You will be asked to input domain controller server ip, domain dns name, admin user and password.

3. It will do certain test and print debug in the console window.

4. Please post me the debug logs.

It seems WFilter only can find 6 members in your "Domain Admins" group. We will do some research to check.

In the meantime, please use one of the found 6 members to configure WFilter for it to work.
