Hi,

A few questions. Appreciate for advice.

1.

I see many duplicate computers appearing in the monitoring log. My guess is these users are accessing the network via wired and wireless at different time thus having 2 difference MAC addresses. For such, I'm utilizing 2 user licenses for a single computer. Is there a way to overcome this issue?

2.

Domain Account

Can I make use of the Account management to push out the block and montioring policies to my remote users at different locations? These are domain users and we connected to the same domain.

Thanks

andy

Answers to your questions:

1. It's unlikely for an user to switch wired/wireless networks frequently. How do you confirm the computers are duplicated? by ip addresses or computer name?

Anyway, in this case, you need two licenses for each computer which has both wired and wireless network access. I don't think there has a work around.

2. The account policies can only be applied to account in local network, you can not filter remote computers with WFilter, unless WFilter is also deployed in the remote network.

This is bad. I have many users moving around the office for meetings, discussion etc. and they use wireless. When they're at the desktop, they are connected via the wire. I have repeating computer name with different IP addresses. My DHCP are set to renew the addresses on a weekly basis, and the server is likely to issue them with different addresses... I'm expecting more than 2 ip addresses per computer.

Sorry, I made a mistake in the previous answer. Please forget my previous post.

WFilter license only limits con-current online computers. For a computer with both wired/wireless network cards, though you can see two records in the "user-computer table", only one of the two records can be online at a same time.

Therefore, you still only need 1 license for each computer.

For some reasons, If I go to user-computer table, the offline computers are also checked thought the computers are already offline. Can you advise?

This is not a problem. Checked offline computers do not occupy licenses.

I have 29 computers of which 15 are online and 14 are offline. All there 29 computers are checked. I went to the user-computer table under the policy setting, it shows

"License: maximum 25 monitored computers, 29 computer(s) are currently monitored.Since your monitored computers number has exceeded the license limit, only the first 25 online computers can be monitored. "

All the 29 computers are taken into account for monitoring regardless they are offline or online. Can you advise? I need to resolve this issue before i went ahead to purchase the licenses.

Thank you

Andy

It seems you're using the default 25-user trial version, which can monitor up to 25 online computers.

The license only limit online users. As you can see, it says "only the first 25 ONLINE computers can be monitored".

My problem is I do not have more than 25 online computers at this time. I only have 14 online computers whereas the other 15 computers are offline (there computers are checked) and I shouldn't be receviing "License: maximum 25 monitored computers, 29 computer(s) are currently monitored"

It's only a warning because your online computers MIGHT exceeds the limit.

If you're sure your online computers number will not exceed the license limit, you can ignore this warning.
