How can I block facebook desktop messenger?

How do I block the facebook chat facility when an user is browsing facebook via https (without blocking the whole site),

And how do I block the facebook desktop chat client?

The "block facebook IM" feature in WFilter only blocks http facebook web chatting. I am afraid there is no way to block https facebook chat without complete blocking of the https facebook access.



However, we've tried to find a pattern to block facebook desktop client.



The pattern file is attached, please follow belows to apply it:



1. Save the attached pattern.xml.new file to the "config" directory of

WFilter.



2. Edit your blocking policy in "Policy Settings"->"Blocking Levels".

You will see a new protocol named "Facebook Desktop" in "Messengers".



3. Enable blocking of this new protocol.



4. Done. Now you're able to block facebook desktop clients. We will update this pattern into WFilter in a later version. (For versions later than en.4.0.159, this pattern is added by default).
